InVoyage™ + InControl™ = InTank™
Scienco® InTank™ BWTS provides the most confidence of compliance with the least impact to operations. The voyage continues!
Scienco/FAST provides fully certified, full-flow without filters (ideal!), electro-chlorination, Ballast Water Treatment Systems. USCG and Revised G8 Type approved, the Scienco® InTank™ treats and neutralizes ballast water in the ballast tanks during the voyage. A small circulation of ballast is drawn aft from one ballast tank at a time, the Active Substance, Sodium Hypochlorite, is added (produced by an EC Cell or from Bulk Chemical storage, or both) to the circulation and returned to the tank. Treatment is monitored using the TRO concentration of the circulated ballast. Treatment is completed during the voyage, neutralization is completed in the day or two before discharge. Scienco® InTank™ keeps the vessel in compliance!
In February 2019, [the formerly named envirocleanse] InTank became the 15th ballast water management system (BWMS) to be granted US Coast Guard type-approval, making it the first system that treats ballast water during the voyage to be type-approved.
The Scienco® InTank™ system uses a dispersion system developed by marine consultancy Glosten and patented by the US Geological Survey for mixing its active substance, sodium hypochlorite, in the ballast tanks. The chemical can either be produced by electrolysis or supplied as a bulk chemical.
Operational Limitations:
- Salinity: Not Applicable Water Temperature: Not Applicable
- Hold Time: >24 Hours (minimum may increase depending on TRO average set point)
- Electrolyte Feed Conductivity: >22 mS/cm (minimum salinity varies with temperature)
- Electrolyte Feed Temperature: 0-35º C
- Minimum Average Total Residual Oxidant (TRO): 2-5 mg/L (varies with hold time)
The dosing modules with the “X” suffix (i.e., DM065X) meet the requirements of 46 CFR 111.105 and may be installed in hazardous locations to which it is certified on a U.S. flag vessel. All other components, including other dosing modules (i.e., DM065G) must remain outside of hazardous locations. The “X” dosing modules may be installed in hazardous locations to which they are certified on a foreign flag vessel subject to approval of the foreign administration.
